Prairie Dogs Complete Comeback to Take the Season Opener Over the Blaze

Saskatoon, SK - Kurtis Peifer scored two 2-pointers to help secure the opening game win over the Bridge City Blaze in Saskatoon on Saturday morning.

Brennan Boruch got the scoring started for the Prairie Dogs at the 9 minute mark to take the early lead. PA Would hold off the Blaze until the 4 minute mark when the Blaze’s Reagan harding would eventually tie up the game. Bridge City would add another in the dying seconds of the quarter to go ahead 2-1.

The Blaze would add 2 more in the opening minutes of the second quarter to go up 4-1 before Brody Holizki would cut the lead in half with 7:05 left in the quarter. Bridge City answered back with 2 more of their own to go up 6-2. In his first game as a Prairie Dog, Braden Shewchuk would get his first of his Sr. career with 7 seconds left in the half to make it 6-3 for Bridge City.

Kurtis Peifer took over in the second half. He buried his first of the season from beyond the arc to bring the Prairie Dogs within 1. Talon Sandry would tie things up in the third quarter with his first as a Prairie Dog. Peifer would add another 2 pointer and Bridge City would add a late push but Prince Albert cruised to a 10-8 victory over the Bridge City Blaze.

PA will take on Sturgiss 9-1-1 at 2:30 this afternoon.
