Team Name and Branding Announced
PRINCE ALBERT, SK - Prince Albert’s new senior field lacrosse team, led by Prince Albert Attack and Team Sask coach Matt Robin, finally has a name and identity. Prince Albert released the Prairie Dogs via a series of social media posts, unveiling its long-awaited name, logo and colors.
When the SFLL expansion team begins play in 2021, its name will be the Prince Albert Prairie Dogs after the rodent that roams the Saskatchewan prairies.
The primary color is bright cyan. The secondary colors are cream and navy.
The logo honors the prairie animal, as well as paying homage to the city of Prince Albert, and Saskatchewan.
"Prince Albert is a city with a deep history," Prairie Dogs media manager Mark Peterson said. "I think the name and logo embodies a connection with the province, the city and the ferociousness of this cute animal. It's a good tie in to Prince Albert and Saskatchewan.”
Led by Coach/GM Matt Robin, the team engaged in some research and considered quite a few different names before settling on the Prairie Dogs. “Things are heating up.” says Robin.
The team hopes to play their inaugural season in the SFLL in 2021, depending on what happens with the pandemic.
“We tried a ton of different colours before finally settling on these. They are different and exciting.” said Peterson. "The jersey design is great, and I can't wait to see the players take the the field in them" Peterson said. "It’s going to be a great year."
