Plainsmen Take Down the Prairie Dogs
PRINCE ALBERT, SK - It was a slightly cloudy morning at PMP East as the Prairie Dogs took on the Plainsmen in the first game of the Face Off in the Sticks Festival. Saskatoon won the opening draw and quickly stormed down the field and took a 2-0 lead with a 2 pointer in the early seconds of the quarter. Not long after Ryan Robin found the back of the net from beyond the arc to tie the game at 2. Brennan Boruch and Kyle Sawchuk also scored in the first quarter and the Prairie Dogs finish the first tied 4-4.
Saskatoon scored first in the second quarter to take the lead. Brody Holizki tied it up about 2 minutes later with his first of the game. The Plainsmen answered back with just under 4 minutes left in the half with a 2 pointer to take a 7-5 lead. With 30 seconds left in the half, Tanner Vancoughnett buried his first of the game to make it 7-6.
Javan Bexson was the lone goal scorer for the Prairie Dogs in the third quarter. Saskatoon scored 2 and PA heads into the final quarter down 9-7.
Brennan Boruch, Brody Holizki, and Tanner Vancoughnett each scored their second of the game in the fourth as the Prairie Dogs tried to mount the comeback. Saskatoon was just too much to handle for Prince Albert in this matchup and took the win 14-10.
Ryan Robin was the lone 2 point goal scorer for PA in the game.
Bexson and Sawchuk each scored a goal, and Boruch, Vancoughnett, and Holizki each added a pair for Prince Albert.
Prince Albert’s next game is at 2:30 against the Yorkton Olden Knights.
