Prairie Dogs Head to the Harvest Cup Final
REGINA, SK - The Prairie Dogs took on Sturgis 9-1-1 in the semi-finals of the Harvest Cup. Brody Holizki opened up the scoring for PA early in the game. Sturgis quickly answered back but Kallen Currie got the go ahead goal with a nice feed from Brendin Currie. Tanner Vancoughnett added an outstanding highlight reel goal. He pick up a nice pass from Holizki and got off a fast shot in tight behind the back to make it 3-1. Sturgis added one in the final minute to go into the break with a score of 3-2 for PA.
Dillan Cochrane found the back of the net early in the frame to make it 4-2. Kurtis Piefer added another half way through the quarter to bring the PA lead up to 3. Sturgis came back in the last half of the second with 3 goals of there own to even the score at 5 at the half.
The third quarter was quiet for both teams. Danny Martin was the lone goal scorer in the quarter to make it 6-5 for PA.
Kallen Currie added an insurance marker in the first few minutes of the final frame to make it 7-5. Sturgis wasn’t done however and brought the game to 7-6. PA then shut them down with a few great defensive plays by Lucas Wells, Jordan Carriere, and Lawrence Holizki.
Prince Albert saw goals from Brody Holizki, Tanner Vancoughnett, Danny Martin, Dillan Cochrane, and Kurtis Piefer. Kallen Currie found the back of the net twice for PA in the game while Matt Robin picked up the win in net.
The Prairie Dogs will now take on the winner fo Regina and Moose Jaw for the Harvest Cup at 2:30.
