PA Drops Final Game of the Season

PRINCE ALBERT, SK - The Prince Albert Prairie Dogs took on the Regina Southern Comfort in the final game of the SFLL season.

In what seems to be the pattern of the weekend, Regina opened up the scoring one minute into the game. But only a minute and a half later, Javan Bexson scored from beyond the arc to take a 2-1 lead. Regina answered back with a 2 pointer of their own 7 minutes in to go up 3-2. Brody Holizki evened it up with 18 seconds left but Regina tied it up 4-4 with a buzzer beater at the end of the first quarter.

Prince Albert controlled the play for the first part of the second. Goals from Brennan Boruch, Javan Bexson, and Brody Holizki made the score 7-4. Regina answered back with a pair of 2 pointers to take the lead. The Prairie Dogs headed into the half down 9-7.

Brennan Boruch scored early in the second half to cut the lead in half. Danny Martin tied the game just under 5 minutes into the third. With 4:55 seconds left in the third quarter, Kurtis Piefer scored to take the lead. Boruch scored another to widen the lead to 2 goals. Regina scored in the late stages of the third to make it 11-10.

A couple of goals early in the fourth by Regina made it 12-11 for the Southern Comfort. However, five minutes into the fourth, Brody Holizki tied the game at 12. It was a back and fourth game for the next 7 minutes beforw Regina scored two goals in the final two minutes of the game to beat Prince Albert 14-12.

Javan Bexson scored a 2 pointer and also added a single. Brennan Boruch added 4 goals for the Prairie Dogs in the final game while Brody Holizki added 3. Danny Martin and Kurtis Piefer each had a goal to round out the scoring foe Prince Albert.

The Prairie Dogs finish the season with a record of 5-4. Prince Albert will head to Regina on October 2 and 3 to play for the Harvest Cup Provincial Championship.
