Prairie Dogs Get Set for Harvest Cup
PRINCE ALBERT, SK - After a fairly successful inaugural season in the SFLL, the Prairie Dogs finished with a record of 5 wins and 4 losses, one of which came in overtime to Yorkton in week 1. The 5-4 record was good enough for a 3 way tie for second place. But after the tie breaking procedure, Prince Albert finishes the season in 4th place. PA’s fourth place finish puts them in Pool A with the first place Regina Southern Comfort and the sixth place Yorkton Olden Knights.
After a mediocre performance in Prince Albert last weekend, the Prairie Dogs will look for a bit of redemption in Regina this weekend during the Harvest Cup Provincial Championship. The Prairie Dogs will play their first game against the Yorkton Olden Knights at 1:00 pm at the Regina Rugby Club. PA and Yorkton have tied the season series 1-1 with both games going into overtime. PA will then play host and first seed Regina Southern Comfort at 4:00 pm to round out the round robin portion of the tournament.
The Prairie Dogs will play again Sunday morning. Game time will depend on where they sit after round robin play on Saturday. The Championship game will be held at 2:30 pm to crown the 2021 Harvest Cup Provincial Championship. The last time Saskatchewan awarded a field lacrosse provincial champion was in 2007 when the Aberdeen Hornets took home the prize. You can find a full list of past provincial champions on the SFLL website.
